To achieve sustainability in efforts to eliminate child labor and alleviate poverty in sugarcane, sugarcane industry stakeholders, including the GoP, the private sector, civil society, communities, parents, and children, must have the capacity and policy support to address the issues that negatively impact child labor and poverty in sugarcane.

Initiatives on Policy Advocacy and Capacity Building

  • Building and strengthening barangay, municipal, and provincial systems and structures
  • Enhancing the involvement of the sugar industry in efforts to eliminate child labor
  • National level advocacy and policy reform
  • In- and pre-service training of DOLE Labor Inspectors and UP social workers

Initiatives on Awareness Raising

  • Engaging local partners for action awareness in communities,
  • Directing targeted awareness toward parents and children,
  • Increasing awareness and action by the sugar industry and key government stakeholders, and
  • Establishing partnerships with the private sector and the government to leverage and sustain efforts of ABK3 LEAP.
